Access Sport, a dynamic charity whose mission is to give children, particularly in disadvantaged areas, access to a wide range of quality local sport, recently called on London-based removals company Pickfords to help out with ‘Ride Around London’, one of several annual events which raises funds for the charity.
Participants in Ride Around London choose between a testing 115-mile route, starting at Herne Hill Velodrome and passing through Box Hill, North Downs, Windsor, Eton Dorney and The Chilterns before finishing at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre in Enfield, or the shorter 60-mile course which follows the same route but starts in Windsor.
Pickfords provided the organisers with valuable logistical support by delivering bikes from the ride finish at Lee Valley Athletics Centre to the two starting points at Alexandra Gardens Windsor and Herne Hill Velodrome. This service was extremely popular with participants, who were very glad to have their bikes taken safely back to the start of the ride.
Organiser Lucy Brooks said: “I just wanted to say a huge thank you for Pickfords’ support of our event. Everything went really well and we raised in excess of £20,000 to support Access Sport’s future initiatives. We are especially grateful to Pickfords for providing us with a solution to transport the many dozens of bicycles back to Herne Hill and Windsor, saving us a considerable sum of money.”
“This is the second year that we have supported Access Sport’s Ride Around London,” commented Pickfords’ Head of Marketing Lyndsey Daykin. “We know that the organisers make a huge impact in our local community to get children to get involved in sport, and we were delighted to lend a hand to support the event.”
